New module request: German Menge Bible (1939)

    Details

      Description

      From And Bible user:

      Hi there,

I'm using the Android "Study Bible" (formerly: "AndBible") app which also uses SWORD modules published by CrossWire.

I wonder if you could publish the German Menge Bible from 1939, it's licensed under Public Domain since 2010.

      I've found some sources here:
      https://github.com/renehamburger/Menge-Bibel
      https://sourceforge.net/projects/zefania-sharp/files/Bibles/GER/Menge-Bibel/

I'm sure a lot of Christians would welcome the Menge translation!

      Thank you!

      God bless you all
      ~ Robert

I'm ok with this. What do you think about the github repo for Menge?

That GitHub repo's content was scraped from an older web version of the German Bible Society. They now have a web application in place that behaves differently from what the scripts in renehamburger's repository expect. The text is still the same, i.e. the Menge Bible in 2003 edition. On the website, there is the following copyright claim: "Die Heilige Schrift, übersetzt von Hermann Menge. Neuausgabe. © 1949, 2003 Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft, Stuttgart. Apokryphen aus: Die Heilige Schrift des Alten und Neuen Testaments, übersetzt von Hermann Menge. Ausgabe der Württembergischen Bibelanstalt Stuttgart, 1967."

renehamburger claims that the 2003 version (with orthographic update) is in public domain and he double-checked that with German Bible Society. That claim is backed by Crosswire's wiki.
